ARTISTMARK is a New York contemporary painter creating Experimental POP ART entirely by hand on the Apple iPad.  The technology is the medium. The artist remains human.

ARTISTMARK's work explores the intersection of contemporary painting, technology, and human creativity. Through vibrant color, expressive linework, layered texture, abstraction, and portraiture, he has developed a distinctive visual language that reimagines contemporary painting for the digital age.

A longtime New Yorker, ARTISTMARK’s creative perspective has been shaped by decades of living in a city defined by movement, reinvention, contradiction, and change. His path to becoming an artist was unconventional. After studying Real Estate at Pace University, he built a career that evolved from commercial real estate into real estate technology, CRM, and ultimately web application security. Throughout that journey, technology remained a constant fascination—not simply as a tool, but as a means of transforming ideas and expanding what is possible.

 

That relationship with technology eventually became central to his art.

ARTISTMARK was an early adopter of the iPad as a professional artistic medium, recognizing its creative potential long before digital painting achieved broader acceptance within the contemporary art world. Rather than using technology to imitate traditional painting, he embraces the unique possibilities of the digital canvas. The iPad has become his painting studio and the Apple Pencil his primary instrument, reducing the distance between imagination and creative expression.

Every Experimental POP ART composition begins with ARTISTMARK’s original drawings and develops through an intensive, hands-on process of drawing, layering, editing, manipulation, experimentation, and refinement. He also develops and experiments with purpose-built creative applications, approaching digital tools much as a traditional painter might experiment with brushes, pigments, surfaces, and techniques.

ARTISTMARK describes this creative methodology as Intelligent Art by Design—technology guided entirely by human imagination and artistic decision-making. Every line, color, texture, form, and composition is deliberately created and refined by the artist. No generative AI is involved.

This distinction has become increasingly significant to his practice. At a time when AI-generated imagery is becoming commonplace, ARTISTMARK represents a distinctly human approach to digital art. Technology does not replace the artist; it amplifies the artist’s imagination.

His evolving body of Experimental POP ART transforms color, form, portraiture, abstraction, and layered digital techniques into highly saturated visual environments that can feel simultaneously familiar and unexpected. Faces emerge and disappear. Colors collide. Recognizable imagery moves toward abstraction. The resulting paintings balance spontaneity with precision and invite viewers to discover new relationships and interpretations with each encounter.

While acknowledging influences ranging from Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, and Fauvism to artists including Picasso, Basquiat, Miró, Warhol, Klimt, Haring, Dalí, and others, Experimental POP ART has evolved into a visual language distinctly ARTISTMARK’s own.

With a portfolio of hundreds of original digital paintings, ARTISTMARK continues to explore what painting can become when new technology is placed entirely in the hands of the artist. His work demonstrates that contemporary digital tools, when guided by human imagination, can produce original fine art with the emotional depth, artistic integrity, and lasting cultural value of traditional media.
